Leslie’s Favorite Design Projects

Leslie’s Favorite Design Projects

Leslie has worked in the design industry for 20 years and has worked on countless projects. Leslie and her team approach every project that sets L. Moore Designs apart from the rest. With a mix of classic and eclectic, formal and relaxed, fine and rustic, every space becomes a mix of styles, making it unique to each client. While every project is different, we sat down with Leslie to find out what her favorite design projects have been over the years.Ā Ā

Ā

What were your favorite projects you’ve worked on?

ā€œLove so many, but will note these…

Supple Reno – This project was for clients that I have been working with on-going for 20 years. In a long-term relationship like this, we are able to cut to the chase as far as aesthetics for the project. This was very challenging because it was a very intrusive project in their lives while they were living through the reno of the kitchen, casual dining space, family rooms, and having 2 bathrooms in other parts of the house gutted at the same time. This client was very engaged during the process, which is very important because many people just want to check out and leave decisions up to the contractor or subs, assuming the decisions will be ones that they like and then they don’t end up liking the end result. There are countless decisions to be made on a daily basis, so it is important that the clients, designer, and contractor get on the same page early on.

East Barrett Road: This was a great project because the clients (new clients) were ready and willing to go with a whole new look from what they previously had and were making a move to a new house that did not require any renovating, so it was all about furniture, fabrics, finishes, and artwork and accessories which is nice sometimes to get away from construction details which can be very consuming for all. They really trusted me to give them the casual but lovely environment that they wanted to live in and enjoy. They wanted nothing formal. The spaces are relaxed and peaceful and really just invite you in to sit and stay awhile.

Trade Street – this one was fun because I got to work in a loft-style building in downtown Winston-Salem. I had worked with the client on a previous new build which was over 5,000 sq ft. And the client was downsizing to approx. 2,000.00 square feet, so the challenge was how do we pare down all of the most favorite items to fit and work in the new space, which was also a very different style from the previous home. We also ended up needing to buy some new furniture because the buyers of the previous home bought some of the client’s furniture, but that let us really get seating more conducive to the open living space. The client was thrilled with the end result and continues to be after several years there.ā€

Is there a specific style you love to work with?

ā€œEclectic, mixing of styles creates more of a timeless look rather than a look that in 10 years time you can mark the decade that it was from. Many times with repeat work for clients, when we are reusing or updating spaces, we repurpose a lot of items previously purchased and maybe update with new fabrics, but if we choose well to begin with, we can re-incorporate and give pieces new life.ā€

Inspiring Colors For 2022

A new year means new colors. From soothing neutrals to lively brights, color can transform your home in an instant and give it that fresh feeling you’ve been looking for. We’ve put together the inspiring color palettes and trends for 2022 that will help you decorate your space. These must-have shades will spice up your home and add the pop of color your home needs.Ā

Inspiring Interior Colors for 2022

Earthy Colors

Natural, earthy shades will remain popular in 2022. Browns, grays, and greens will make your space feel close to nature, giving your home an earthy and feel. Earthy tones offer a warm and welcoming feel to any room while creating an area that is stable for change and creativity. We’ve put together a list of our favorite earthy colors for 2022.Ā

Olive SprigĀ

PPG Paint named Olive Sprig the color of 2022. It is light olive green and fits well into any earthy color palette. Its welcoming feel is perfect for entryway spaces, entertaining areas, or even smaller spaces like home offices.Ā Ā

Art & Craft

Art and Craft is a soft brown that was named 2022 color of the year by Dunn-Edwards. It gives a nod to nature with its warm, earthy shade and can be mixed with shades of green for an outdoor feel. It offers a grounding and calm feeling to any room and has a similar richness to walnut wood. Pair with light neutral shades to brighten up the room, or try pairing with jewel-toned accents for a more luxurious look.Ā

Soft & Bright ShadesĀ

Soft and bright colors can spice up the look of your space while bringing a smile to your face, making it the ultimate trend for 2022. While earthy tones tend to be a popular option, brighter shades (like Guacamole Green) bring a sense of happiness to the space. They can be used on entire rooms, accent walls, or as decor items for a pop of color.Ā

Guacamole GreenĀ

Guacamole is a bright shade that was chosen by Glidden for the 2022 color pick of the year. It offers a refreshing look without overpowering the room, letting the color soothe and relax your space. Shades of green are becoming more and more popular as people walk to rejuvenate the look of their home and add in a feeling of regrowth and organic vibe. For a more modern but timeless look, mix this color with matte black accents or light wood tones for a more calming appeal.

Cozy & Calm Colors

With more and more time spent at home, it’s no shock that cozy and calm colors are staying a trend for 2022. Comfortable colors create a relaxed and warm atmosphere, helping you kick back and relax in your space. From soothing shades, like Breezeway Green, to relaxing tones like Aleutian, cozy and calm colors can change the look of your home in an instant.Ā

Breezeway GreenĀ

The Breezeway was named Behr’s 2022 color of the year, and we can see why! It is a cool shade of green that gives off a silvery and blue tint, giving off a seaside feel. It’s a light color that gives off a tranquil yet welcoming feel. The cool shade offers a clean look that works well in entryways, kitchens, or even bedrooms. Pair with bright white accents for a coastal feel.Ā

AleutianĀ

This color was named 2022 color of the year by HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams and is bound to start popping up in home color palettes. Aleutian, similar to the shade of a pair of blue jeans, gives off a relaxing vibe. It mixes well with soft neutrals with even earthy tones, making it a versatile color to add to your home. With a warm undertone, it works well in popular common areas, like a living room or kitchen.Ā
